Currently the only schedule option is daily at a specific time of day. I would like the ability to have weekly or monthly backups scheduled. Reason is that I have some development databases that do not need daily backups accomplished, weekly would be good enough. Currently I am unable to do weekly backups. This would also be a viable option for databases that do not change often and can tolerate just a weekly backup.

The GUI covers the most common scenario - when you need one backup daily. If you need anything else, it is extra simple to just change the schedule from daily to whatever you like right in the Windows Schedule by modifying a job created by SQLBackupAndFTP. This topic discusses it more: http://sqlbackupandftp.com/forum/yaf_postst28_Multiple-backups.aspx

Yes, you can do most from the GUI. But to schedule a weekly backup I have to set the backup in your software, then go into the task scheduler and redo the task properties in the task scheduler. If I want to change the backup options I again have to do multiple steps.

It would be much simpler to allow the setting of a weekly or monthly schedule within your software. Since your software is not doing the scheduling it is really a change in the GUI that build the information for the task scheduler.

Having to go to two different places to accomplish a relatively straightforward task should be rethought. Please reconsider and make the necessary changes in your GUI to support other options beyond just a daily schedule.

Your point is taken. We were discussing this option for quite some time. But we were a bit lazy just to copy Win Sched interface. And file format should be changed depending on frequency. And keeping interface clear is the top priority. But maybe it is time to move scheduling (along with Diff backups) to GUI. We'll make plans for it in future releases.

This will be a step ahead for the this wonderful tool. I think this should be in a beta version now. Scheduling is a big selling point for this tool if you guys can make it happen as soon as possible.

I really appreciate the simplicity of the program - it "just works".

perhaps if there was a link from the list of scheduled jobs to task scheduler, this would be quite handy and relieve the need to duplicate any scheduler UI.
