Prior to SQLBackupAndFTP v. 5 we have experienced a lot of FTP timeout errors when uploading large files. The problem was solved in v.5 - we have switched to a different FTP engine.

I'm not sure that this error is related to this software. Please contact your FTP or network administrator.

Hello,

I'm having the same problems while FTP-ing to a remove server.

Sometimes the does the backup&ftp all the 5 databases correcty,
And some other times the problems appears in two ways:

1. ERROR: Remote file size verification failed:
2. WARNING: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time

The failure is not in all the 5 databases, just to a random numbers of db:

Version: SqlBackupAndFtp 6.4.5.22086 Professional

The logs:

2/1/2012 4:19:25 AM Upload of D:\Backup\dbf201202010400.zip completed
2/1/2012 4:19:26 AM ERROR: Remote file size verification failed: Remote file size (163328000) is not equal to local one's (262057359)

1/22/2012 4:19:06 AM WARNING: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond

I've the very same problem. My backup is very large after 7zip compression. It's cca ~30GB.
When the ftp upload finished, I got the same error:
"31/01/2012 12:35:39 WARNING: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 87.12.65.170:21
31/01/2012 12:35:40 Trying to upload again..."

But earlier, with the SqlBackupAndFtp 5.5 version works fine with the same environment for more than a 1,5 half years now. But after I've upgraded to v6.4, I got these errors.

I've already tried my environment with smaller backups and this is working fine.

I think the problem is around the FTP's timeout settings. When uploading a large file the ftp session is going to timed out, but when trying to restoring the connection to verify the uploaded file, won't get response from the server and restarting the upload.

Please help.
Thanks in advance,
Andor Pribek

Hi,

We did a change to improve uploading large files a short time ago (the application uses temporary file to upload). Although it doesn't have ability to change FTP timeout parameter now, could you please upgrade SQLBackupAndFTP to the latest release (6.5.8) and try again?
