Hello

Can anyone help with this problem?

When I use One-ClickSQL restore and select the back-up file, I get the following error message

"Cannot match logical files.Cannot open backup device 'C:\Documents and Settings\Mark Hughes\Desktop\TEST201009041530.bak. Operating system error 5(file not found). RESTORE FILELIST is terminating abnormally"

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I think the reason is that your SQL Server's account doesn't have enough access rights for C:\Documents and Settings\Mark Hughes\Desktop\ please try to restore from another location.

Yes, it seems there are issues when Desktop is used as a source folder. We plan to add some file accessibility check in the next release. In the mean time just move the files to a different location to restore.

Thanks for this but I have the same problem and still can't get it to work by copying the backup to another folder (My Documents, for example). Version 6.1.16 worked fine but the new version 6.1.17 no longer works. Could you please advise if there is another work around or when there is likely to be a patch to deal with this issue?

"My Documents" folder may not work either. What other places did you try?

I've tried a few different places - directly on the C: drive, downloads ... is there anywhere I should try to make it work?

OK I've got it to work:-

1. Re-start SQLServer;
2. Copy the backup zip file to the C: drive - Documents and Desktop don't work;
3. Unzip the file - I had to do this manually for this to work rather than drag the zip file to SQL Restore icon;
4. Drag the unzipped backup file onto the SQL Restore icon.

Overall I like this product as it's really simple to use, but it's a shame it has these small issues that detract from it. Is it likely that an update will be provided to allow backups to be saved and restored from anywhere and restored from the zip file as I think it used to be?

Thanks for sharing this, Nigel. One-Click SqlRestore is not our main focus. That's why it's free and has limited functionality. We created it to make database restore process a bit easier but in simple cases only. Probably we will improve it in the future if we feel it's worthy of it.

***ANSWER: Move backup file "*.bak" to C: drive then click on it.
